User Experience Design

VA’s User Experience Design process ensures that products are designed foremost with human beings in mind. Starting from project kick-off all the way through to project launch, our methodology is user-centered; the design process revolves around what your website visitors’ wants and needs actually are. We’ll lead you through capturing your audience demographics, determining their needs and building solutions to solve their problems. A wide range of tools are available in order to ensure a quality experience for the user; the employment of which varies depending on what makes sense for a project, along with any limitations in requirements, budget, timeline, or other constraints. The end result is a leading-edge site that’s creative, effective, and a pleasure to use.

Designing For All Devices

VA believes firmly that websites should respond and adapt depending on the type of device being used, ensuring that the functionality and user-interface elements are automatically adjusted depending on a person’s environment or context-of-use. This ensures a quality experience across a broad spectrum of internet-enabled devices.

Usability

Of paramount importance to VA is the building of highly usable sites, as it is critically essential to a quality user experience. Building interfaces that are highly intuitive, fast, helpful, and prevent errors can have an enormous impact on efficiency, conversion rates, and overall satisfaction. Additionally, there are a variety of evaluation methods that can be performed at various stages of development, which can validate design decisions made during the course of a project.

The Process

1
Plan

The planning phase begins with a thorough assessment of users, their needs, and overall project goals. The information architecture is then conceptualized, a content audit is performed, and wireframes are constructed if necessary.

2
Design

The UI design phase begins with a UX designer gathering requirements for the user interface design and providing one or more mockups of the interface and soliciting feedback from the primary stakeholders and/or test users. Iterative mockups are provided until all parties involved are satisfied. A detailed project specification document is then submitted to the primary stakeholders for approval.

3
Build

The build phase begins with the development of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and general site templates. Individual pages are constructed, content is fully integrated and optimized, and any development requirements (such as a content management system) are incorporated into the site. A comprehensive beta review and testing of the website is conducted, along with any training sessions required.

4
Deploy

The deployment phase beings with the migration of the beta site to the live server. All programming features are double-checked to ensure they are working properly, and a follow-up meeting is conducted with the primary stakeholders in order to discuss ongoing site support.

5
Support

The support phase begins with careful monitoring of the live website. Services designed to enhance the website's performance are conducted at this time, such as service-level agreements, usability evaluations, and graphic design support. Customers can also opt-in for ongoing consultative services, ensuring that their site's content, functionality, and aesthetics remain effective well into the future.
